BP - British Petrol = Bad Pollution
Monday, July 23rd, 2007Notice that my blogging is very scarce as I have devoted most of my energy to building Promet. However this article in the Trib got my blood boiling and my old collage ideals bubbled to the point of action.
Here is the excerpt from the Chicago Tribune “BP gets break on dumping in lake” by Michael Hawthorne
The massive BP oil refinery in Whiting, Ind., is planning to dump significantly more ammonia and industrial sludge into Lake Michigan, running counter to years of efforts to clean up the Great Lakes… Under BP’s new state water permit, the refinery — already one of the largest polluters along the Great Lakes — can release 54 percent more ammonia and 35 percent more sludge into Lake Michigan each day. Ammonia promotes algae blooms that can kill fish, while sludge is full of concentrated heavy metals.
Basically BP stands for Bad Polluters in my book from now on and a fantastic example of corporate hypocracy.
Here is what we can do.
1) blog about it to expose the falacy of the BP.com public campaign. We hope that enough exposure will shame them to stand up to act right, not just lie about wanting to be clean.
2) Sign these petitions currently being circulated among some polititians that can do something about it:
Congressman Mark Kirk http://kirkforcongress.com/petition1/
Chicago Parks petition against sludge dumping into lake Michigan by BP
3) Find out who the sell out public servants in Indiana are, blog about it, and hope that they will never ever get re-elected
4) Blast this guy for being an enemy to the environment Gov. Mitch Daniels

How to do what you love
Wednesday, January 25th, 2006I picked this up from slashtod and I though I would contribute to this links popularity because I enjoyed this article so much. Written by Paul Graham, How to do what you love
To do something well you have to like it. That idea is not exactly novel. We’ve got it down to four words: “Do what you love.” But it’s not enough just to tell people that. Doing what you love is complicated.
The very idea is foreign to what most of us learn as kids. When I was a kid, it seemed as if work and fun were opposites by definition.

Best thing since the Onion
Tuesday, December 20th, 2005Slavek (Przemyslaw, my brother) has decided to start an online publication. I nominate it as a worthy link of the week.
I wanted to give a little excerpt on its mission or content but since Slavek decided not to restrict himself in that way, I think the best way for you to experience the daleek is to see it for yourself. It’s pure silliness.
