Nov 4th - Election Day in Chicago

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

Here it is - finally. The weather is perfect, unseasonable warm in Chicago for early November. I went out early this morning to vote. I arrived at the polling station shortly after 7, although the polling station opened at six. I was in and out in about thirty minutes.

I had the pleasure of the most interesting conversation in line. Right as got there an older lady behind me lined up and gasped with astonishment. She said she had been in the neighborhood for 50 years, and had volunteered as a poll worker for over 20 years and she had never seen lines like this. She said most of the time they had to fight falling asleep at the tables. She congratulated me on the fact that our generation is finally paying attention. I wish I ran into her afterwards so that I could talk to her more.

Well, here is a little montage of what it looked like. Enjoy.
