Brett Farve and the Packers
I didn’t realize that this was in the mainstream news until
1) John Stewart made fun of major networks treating this as a “Breaking Story”
2) My friend Lissa (below) sent out this message to everyone this morning
Lissa - thanks for sharing

Bye bye Brett Favre
In the last couple of weeks I had to search into my soul to figure out whether I was a true Packer fan or just a Brett Favre fan.
I have to admit, I was both dissappointed and thrilled when I heard he was coming back. I always believe that players need to retire in the top of their game, and Brett was there during the last season, but the idea of football without the passion, heart and effort Brett brings to the game is just unthinkable.
Although I understand the position McCarthy had to take in order to continue building the team (after all it was Brett’s fault for retiring early) I do not understand Thompson and why he had to dismiss him as if all of the glory he brought to Green Bay didn’t matter? Why couldn’t they have honored his accomplishments by, if not reinstating him as the starting QB, at least providing him with his release papers so he would be able to chose where he wanted to play? After all, shouldn’t we test Rodgers against the best?.
Favre is a Jet because Thompson didn’t want him to be a Packer. Instead of keeping Favre, Thompson would rather have three quarterbacks on his roster with a combined zero NFL starts. He’d rather have Rodgers than the most durable quarterback in the history of the game.
As far as being a drama queen, remember - he could have stayed, practiced, competed in an open competition with Rodgers and dared management to sit him with a $12 million contract, but he didn’t. Why? Because he loves and respect the Pack much more than the Pack appreciated him.
Although it broke my heart to see Favre wearing a Jets jersey, I will follow his career until the day he decides to hang up the helmet for good and although I wish Thompson would get shot by a deer hunter, I do not blame the team and will continue to support and root for them as I have for the last 16 years.
So to answer all of those e-mails, text messages, voice messages and notes dropped on my windshield…I AM A CHEESEHEAD and will continue to be. GO PACKERS!!!!
Love,
Lissa
