How to do what you love

Wednesday, January 25th, 2006

I picked this up from slashtod and I though I would contribute to this links popularity because I enjoyed this article so much. Written by Paul Graham, How to do what you love

To do something well you have to like it. That idea is not exactly novel. We’ve got it down to four words: “Do what you love.” But it’s not enough just to tell people that. Doing what you love is complicated.

The very idea is foreign to what most of us learn as kids. When I was a kid, it seemed as if work and fun were opposites by definition.

- Reward miles flow in 2005 – 42,000

- Business ideas moved on – 2
- Blogs started – 1
- Miles put on bike ~ close to two thousand
- Mile ridden on motorcycle – less than a thousand

Since this is the start of the new year I am going to publicly announce some of my 2006 resolutions:
- put 3k on bicycle
- read at least four real books (nerd books, magazines and websites don’t count this year)
- climb a big mountain
- Beat TJ’s time in the Chicago Marathon (3:47)

I love the phonomena of resolutions, quiting smoking, loosing weight, etc. The gyms were PACKED on the third. Note to self, NEVER EVER go to a gym the week after new years. Wait until everyone has overdone it and is back to their normal habits.

To get myself motivated for my workout regiment, here are some hilights from the healtiest months of 2005 – check out my workout log, weight los chart, etc.
