Jacob week 2
December 31st, 2008Favorite Application of the year
December 31st, 2008I think this application will be a game changer for 2008. Its the scanner application for the google g1 android phone. It builds on top of the Android interface and a focusable camera. It’s a price comparison build into your phone. You scan a barcode of an item, and it will pull up competitors price information, and if that item is available at a store near by, it will provide you with that info along with prices.

Election Night in Grant Park
November 5th, 2008It was an astonishingly peaceful and happy rally. Everyone was smiling, cheering, laughing and respectful of one another - there was euphoria in the air. It was a very unique experience and I am very happy that I was able to make it. Here is another montage of some pictures and video clips I took last night.
Nov 4th - Election Day in Chicago
November 4th, 2008Here it is - finally. The weather is perfect, unseasonable warm in Chicago for early November. I went out early this morning to vote. I arrived at the polling station shortly after 7, although the polling station opened at six. I was in and out in about thirty minutes.
I had the pleasure of the most interesting conversation in line. Right as got there an older lady behind me lined up and gasped with astonishment. She said she had been in the neighborhood for 50 years, and had volunteered as a poll worker for over 20 years and she had never seen lines like this. She said most of the time they had to fight falling asleep at the tables. She congratulated me on the fact that our generation is finally paying attention. I wish I ran into her afterwards so that I could talk to her more.
Well, here is a little montage of what it looked like. Enjoy.
Interactive journalism
October 29th, 2008I love a good interactive data presentation, and lately I think NYTimes does this better than most places on the web.
Check out this latest data presentation of the US Debt Trap. I chose to profile this on the blog because the information is gripping and the presentation is crisp and clear. Now, if they only allowed you to embed it…
